About Douglas Reynolds

As an attorney, I have a diverse practice focused primarily on Civil Litigation, Landlord/Tenant, Real Estate transactions and disputes, HOA’s, Construction, Contract, and Employment matters.  I have practiced in Durango for over 20 years; first with the firm of Goldman, Robbins & Nicholson and then with the Law Firm of Michael E. McLachlan.  From there, I partnered with my friend Jesse Bopp at the Bopp Reynolds Law Group for five years and then started my own practice in 2017.  I have experience with a broad range of matters including jury trials and litigation in Colorado County and District Courts, the U.S. District Court for the District of Colorado, the United States Interior Board of Land Appeals and the United States Court of Federal Claims.

I am a Colorado native, born and raised in the Denver area.  I first attended Western State College of Colorado in Gunnison, then earned a B.A. in History at the University of Colorado, Denver, where I graduated Summa Cum Laude with a focus on 20th Century Western American history.  I then attended Duke University Law School where I earned my J.D. in 2001.  While at Duke Law, I was selected as a student editor on the prestigious Duke Law Journal. I also worked part-time as a waiter in an Italian restaurant for fun, served as a teaching assistant in the legal research and writing program, and watched the Blue Devils basketball team earn a National Championship.

Prior to moving to Durango, I spent 3 years working for the prestigious Denver law firm Brownstein, Hyatt, Farber, Schreck where my practice was focused on corporate transactions.  I moved to Durango to enjoy a more balanced personal and work life.  I love living in our small community and in the mountains.  In my personal time, I enjoy spending time with my high school daughters and skiing, biking, hiking, climbing and camping in the San Juan Mountains and deserts of Utah and Arizona.

In my community, I am a former President of the Durango Daybreak Rotary Club and serve as Treasurer of the Durango area Rotary Clubs’ annual Red Ball Express Fundraiser event.  I am a member of the Durango 9R School District’s Financial Advisory Committee and a Board member with Durango Local First.  I love my small town and try to be a valuable contributing member to our economy, community and culture.

About New Associate Hillary Bernhardt

I’m originally from Maryland, but got to Colorado as soon as I could.  I received my Bachelor of Arts from Sarah Lawrence College in May of 2015.  I then attended University of Colorado Law School where I earned my J.D. in 2020.  While at University of Colorado Law, I served as the Vice President of the Class of 2020, completed the Public Service Pledge, and participated in the Colorado Appellate Advocacy Competition.  I worked as a Student Attorney with the Immigration and Criminal Defense Clinic, where I assisted in the representation of indigent clients on immigration and criminal defense matters.  I also interned with several other public service initiatives, such as Boulder County Legal Services and the Office for Civil Rights, U.S. Department of Education.

After attending law school in Boulder, CO, I moved to Durango to be closer to the mountains and to be a part of a thriving small town community.  In my personal time, I enjoy spending time with my rescue dog and snowboarding, roller skating, mountain biking, rock climbing, crafting and backpacking.

In my community, I participate in the local roller derby team, Durango Roller Girls, and enjoy volunteering with the La Plata County Humane Society and hosting fundraising events for local organizations.
